Ryan Huggins (b. 1991, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago) lives and works in Berlin, Germany. He graduated from the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2020, where he studied with Professor Tomma Abts.

Ryan Huggins is a painter whose works explore ideas surrounding alternative subcultures within queer communities. His practice examines the vocabulary of queer references and terminologies in relation to the body, social identity, and gender as a growing language. They stem from meticulous observation and extensive research conducted in real, existing places, such as bars, clubs, and swimming pools. Functioning as both participant and analyst, Huggins draws on his own presence and subjective memory of past experiences, which become the material and prism of his artistic gaze, intertwining memory and imagination to serve both as depictions of reality and as projections of utopias.

Recent solo exhibition include Call Boys, Pimps & Dealers at Galerie Khoshbakht, Cologne (2025); This is Life at Galerie Khoshbakht, New York City (2025); PLUTO at a. SQUIRE, London (2024); Sunday School at Y Art Gallery, Port of Spain (2024); Djerba at Simo Bacar, Lisbon (2023).

Further group exhibitions include Bundeskunsthalle, Bonn (2026); Y Art Gallery, Port of Spain (2026); a. SQUIRE, London (2025); Simo Bacar, Lisbon (2023); Kunstverein Bad Godesberg, Bad Godesberg (2022) and Qingdao Art Museum, Shandong (2021).
